Today In History: Birth of Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt was born May 22, 1844 in Allegheny City (Pittsburgh), Pa., U.S. and died June 14, 1926, Château de Beaufresne, near Paris, France. An American painter and printmaker who was part of the group of Impressionists working in and around Paris, Mary’s subjects most often included women and children, capturing moments between mother and child.
